Florida’s Largest City/County Expands Relationship with MWH Soft, Deploying H2OMAP Water and Sewer Advanced GIS Technology

Broomfield, CO August 29, 2004 -- MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD), one of the largest water and sewer utilities in the United States, has selected MWH Soft’s H2OMAP Water and H2OMAP Sewer advanced infrastructure analysis and optimization solutions for its enterprise-wide geospatial hydraulic modeling effort. The software will support WASD in managing, protecting, and maximizing performance of its $4 billion water and sewer utility system.

Its principal responsibilities are water transmission, treatment, and distribution and sewer collection, treatment and disposal. The Department operates three regional water treatment plants and five smaller plants, with a total rated treatment capacity of 454 million gallons per day (MGD). The water supply for these plants comes from the Biscayne Aquifer through 88 water supply wells, located in 14 separate well fields. The water distribution system consists of 6,836 miles of pipes. The Department also operates three regional wastewater treatment plants with a total rated capacity of 352 MGD. The wastewater collection system consists of 971 sewer pump stations and 3,600 miles of pipes. WASD plans to leverage the powers of H2OMAP Water and Sewer software to support its professional staff in maximizing productivity, improving operational efficiency, increasing competitiveness, reducing risk, and providing the best possible services to its customers.
